Sexy

"Daddy, what does sexy mean?" My six year old son asked me last night. I did my best after being put on the spot mumbling something about a "beautiful lady that you may want to start a family with". Feeble, I know.

Has anyone else been put on the spot by their kids or have any advice about putting "adult" topics in kids language.

i still have a long way to go before mine turns 6 but i am pretty sure there are story books for kids that introduces them to the birds and the bees.

pretty sure some mums on this forum will be able to advise.

I told my 6 year old that sexy was the way Daddy made Mummy feel, and that it was a grown up word for feeling special. She loved the idea that it was something that only Daddy could make Mummy feel.

Totty that is a very good explaination. Mine is only 6 weeks but I know the day will soon come when she asks us those 'difficult' questions.

Bless you Vulvic.

I also found a fantastic book by Babette Cole called Hair in Funny Places that deals with puberty and although mine are way off i bought it becuase sods law i would never have found it at the 'right'age and they look through it now and laugh and ask questions.

Babette Cole has also written Mummy Laid An Egg which is all about how babies are made and it's great becuase the parents try to fob off the kids with 'Mummy Laid An Egg' and the kids turn it round and say, 'well Mummy, this is how we were made'. Brilliantly funny and again my kdis love it. We don't make a big deal about the books but they are in their bookshelf should they wish to look at them.

Great answer Totty.

I had alook at the books you mentioned are they more focussed toward girls or would they be suitable for boys as well?

Topol - Both would be suitable for boys but i think they would be embarassed to receive them so i would just leave them on their bed or under their door.

Also just to reply to 'love joy' we're not religious so we say we send the fairies wishes and they granted us with two gorgeously amazing childen.

Great Find and Totty - thanks for sharing those book titles with us. Think I may head over to Dymocks and stock up now. Although it is literally years away, time really does go quickly with these little monkeys!
