Formula Choices in OZ

Im going to Australia for 2.5 wks in Dec. My bubs is on Formula now (Enfapro A+).


Q1 - Does anyone know if Australia (Brisbane) have the MeadJohnson - Enfapro A+ formula in their supermarkets/pharmacies etc


Q2 - If not what formulas are available and do we have them here in HK so I can try them


Q3 - Experience sharing re taking formula into Australia (worked out that 2.5 wks would mean taking at least three 900g tins!!!)

I used "s26 Gold" in Aust. after a recomendation from my paediatrician, but he also said all Aust formulas are pretty good due to very strict quality controls. This brand is made by Wyeth pharmaceuticals and I think I have seen a similar looking tin in Wellcome - but haven't had to buy it here. The good thing about s26 gold is that they also sell "stick packs" which are individual portion size sachets which you can add to the bottle of boiled water whenever it is needed - avoiding the necessity to worry about keeping the formula cold while out travelling. I loved these when I was out or on a plane! These are usually sold in pharmacies rather than supermarkets and are of course more expensive than buying the big tins!


Other brands that were available in 2005 were Enfalac, Heinz, Karicare, NAN. Karicare also does a "gold" and I think sachets.


To search the supermarkets on the internet try Coles or Woolworths - the big 2 in Australia.


The "gold" signifies more essential fatty acids and the newer researched ingredients for formula. Maybe similar to the A+?

I have just come down to oz, sunshine coast there is no problem bringing in formula, I even had some in small airtight plastic containers and they allowed this through customs no problem.... I have changed the formula I was using I tried heinz gold and I am now using s26 gold. Bub has had 3 different types of formula in 2 weeks due to lots of traveling and all have been good.

Just went to Wellcome at Repulse Bay and they had Wyeth s26 gold on display at the check outs.

I checked out the S26 in Parknshop. I notice however that the S26 gold only goes up to 6 months. The next level is called Promil Gold 2. Are you able to get that in OZ too?
