We are considering buying a boat to live on in DB. Does anyone have any experiences? Pros? Cons?

I've heard that it's not exactly legal to just buy a debenture for the berth - you are supposed to buy the debenture with a boat and berth however we want to get our own boat - someone told me that there are ways around this - sounds a bit dodgy though.

Thoughts?

Beencurd - what do you mean you find your own mooring? I thought you had to be with a club in order to moore your boat.
