Allianz is one of the ONLY ones that covers FULL maternity costs

I am on a personal plan, not corporate.

International, not Asia Plan

Premier

Look at this link:

http://www.allianzworldwidecare.com/EN/IndividualBusiness/Step2/index.php

International

Core Plan

And you will see that Maternity is covered in full.

We delivered at Matilda, had a private room, vaginal birth with vacuum at the end.

The total cost (matilda, doctors, etc...) was just over 100,000 HKD.

Allianz Worlwide is super coverage.

They covered all my prenatal visits, scans, physical therapy, Annerley midwife package, private room at Matilda and all doctor fees.

You need to apply for a 'treatment guarantee' for the hospital fees. The forms are all on the Allianz website and the hospital you choose can help.

They did not cover only three things:

Husband's meals at hospital

Internet access at hospital

elective circumsicion

Try Neil Raymond at www.kwiksure.com or Allianz directly.

Be sure not to get the 'Asia' Policy as this does not cover maternity in full.

I'm covered by "International Health Insurance damark a/s".

They paid for everything, ob, hospital, private pilates (done by a physio at the Matilda), midwife visits and they even covered the babies 6 day stay in special care.

IHI is the only other policy besides Allianz that covers full maternity.

The cool thing about IHI is that they also cover 2 children up to 10 years old!!

What about Cigna - I think I had them for my first child and again didn't pay a cent.

Cigna Corporate is great and does cover if you have a good Corporate policy.

But individuals cannot buy into a corporate policy, so it depends on your employer.

IHI is a great policy, please read the policy as from memory it does have a waiting period for payment of delivery. I think I worked it out as you must be in it 2 nearly three months and then you will be fine for the delivery fees to be covered.

The best thing about IHI is that it is a global policy and once you are accepted you are in for life and two children under ten.

Believe me the global factor makes a difference if you have a child with pre existing, as I do and have a country specific ozzie health insurance. Only covered in Ozzie and cant let lapse ever as will never be able to get another plan.

We live with fingers crossed, so I would encourage everyone to make sure the policy is a global one, especially for an expat with a newborn.
