Yes, I know, they are going the way of the record player but does anyone know where in HK these might still be sold? None at Fortress except those with phones attached, and many extras. I just want one that connects to the existing landline and tapes or electronically records messages. Thanks in advance..

Yes, I might have to bite that bullet but it's my last choice. As a side note, Fortress is the 1000-pound gorilla in the room. Usually if they don't have something (other than low-end imports from China), nobody does.

Goloh: That is absolutely untrue. With the exception of certain product categories (higher margin and (typically) bigger ticket items, like TV sets, etc.), the selection at Fortress is actually fairly limited.
For instance, for small kitchen appliances (blenders, kettles, even up to (premium) coffee makers), even department stores like Sogo carry a comparable or superior range.

Yes, OK, I was actually thinking more of electronic items than kitchen appliances. So your point is taken. But if you know of any free-standing answering machines ...

Try some of the small side street electronics shops.

I will. In my head there's a long list of "things to buy when I stumble onto them." Thanks.

It's only to take messages from missed calls. I'd heard about the phone company services but was thinking, over time, it might be cheaper to buy the machine than to pay ongoing charges. (These little machines used to be everywhere but have simply disappeared. I might actually do better to find one in a neighbouring country.) Thanks..

OK, it's easy to go and look. Thanks.
