hi, i know it's only november but i would like to book something in advance to avoid the rush. are there fireworks on new year's eve? or does that occur only on chinese new year's eve? also, are there any nice restaurants doing a special new year's eve dinner course? thank you very much.

No fireworks on NYE - at least not in the harbour, if that's what you are referring to. On the other hand just about every restaurant will be doing special menus. Often the best (but also the most expensive) are to be found in the better hotels around town.
