Im moving to Mui Wo (lantau island) in a couple of weeks. One of the reasons im moving over there is because i want to have a dog. Does anyone have suggestions where 2 buy / get a dog?
Question numb 2: where do i find someone that can walk with my new friend twice a day? I prefer someone that is living on Mui Wo or Lantau?

Please, if you are serious about getting a dog, go along to somewhere like Hong Kong Dog Rescue in Pokfulam. They have many, many beautiful dogs who desperately need loving homes. I believe they they are all fully vaccinated. You can check them out on their web-site.

Hi,
I am looking after 2 8-week old puppies for Hong Kong Dog Rescue until they are fully vaccinated. They both have gorgeous natures and are already quite well potty trained! I think they are part labrador and part something else (not sure what but they aren't fully labs!!) and are free to a good home. Let me know if you - or anyone else, HKDR needs plenty of homes for some gorgeous dogs!
Cheers,
Jen

China Beach Club in Mui Wo has 2 SPCA puppies that desperately need homes by the end of this week. Indy & Jones are gorgeous and you can find them on the Pet section of the asiaxpat site.

I'm with you Doron. I wish to have a fuzzy friend around. Alas, I live in a Studio flat in C-Bay and get home quite late. No time to train a cuddly puppy. No room for a big, or even MEDIUM dog. Neighbors too close for a yappy small dog.

@spurs and marie I saw them on the HKDR website, they are lovely but im afraid im to busy with my job to take care of a pup.
@donnialda- U should move 2 Lantau of Lamma ;-)

Doron, it's great that you're thinking of giving a dog a home, but I was just wondering, you say that you are too busy with your job to take care of a puppy, but older dogs take a lot of looking after too ... how do you plan to do it if you're so busy with working?
They need to be walked regulary, at least 3-4 times a day. So make sure there is someone reliable to do this if you are at work. Also, it's not just the walking that may be a problem ... dogs like human company and some get very bored and/or lonely if they are left alone for long periods ... you may live to regret it, as bored dogs especially, can create a lot of damage to your home/belongings. Also, don't forget about days out/weekends away/holidays etc ... you'll have to make arrangements in plenty of advance ... you may not always be able to get a place in boarding kennels at short notice.
You (and anyone else who's thinking of having a dog) may already have thought about these issues, but if you haven't, think long and hard about making the decision to take on a dog ... it's not fair on any dog to be given a home, then for you to realise later that it's too much trouble and have to take the dog back to rescue kennels.

i agree, its a important decision you make if you decide to get a dog. Anyways- i will not have one until i have found the right person to take care of the dog when im at work. Beside this i know there are plenty of dogs that are able to entertain thereselfs during the day as long someone take them out for a walk twice a day.
