We will soon to be flying with SA Airlines with our 6 month old baby. I know the maximum weight of a baby for the bassinet is 10kg but does anyone know the maximum length? Its just the airline will not guarentee us a bassinet as they say our baby is too old for it. Our baby is only 7.60kg and we have reserved the bulkhead seats. Your advise/comments much appreciated

I couldnt find much info about the bassinet on South African Airlines wedsite. When I have travelled before with my first child on various other airines we were always offered a bassinet and she was closer to 12 months and one time on Qantas shes was 18mnths. I am pretty disapointed SA Airlines wont guarentee supplying one to a small 6mnth old baby.

I know! We travelled back from the UK when our baby was just 5 months old and they refused us one by just looking at him. They said he "looked" too heavy?????

i flew back to Uk with 17mth old and she was offered bassinette as long as she was less than 24lbs. I said yes and my little one slept like a dream curled up in it. I flew Virgin. Unless they are going to take a tape measure to baby most of the airline crew have no clue s to weight and size so just lie if necessary.
