You have so much choice, it's hard to tell you all the names and brands.
What formula and nappy are you looking for in particular ?

Im currently using S26 formula/Pampers. Im still in search for formula vacuum packs. I intend to switch as I have observed S26 gives my baby too much gas. Do you happen to know if the formula brands in France are quite similar with the ones we have in HK? How about Morinaga milk?

Hello,
In France you will be able to find in the supermarket these milks:
galia, nestle, etc... but not pampers milks.
If you need a more specific milk, you can go to the pharmacy and ask help.
There are two sorts of milk: liquid (quite rare for very young baby) and in powder.
As your child is less than 3 months old, you must take a milk class 1 (for example galia1).
For the panties, the brands are the same and you will be able to find your product in the supermarket.
Just one thing for gas, it can come from the baby bottle (the child "eats" too much air). Try the avent baby bottle (available in mothercare). They are expensive but very nice.
Ont thing to buy in France for your baby: mustella products (shower, shampoo, body lotion) the smell is so nice!. You can buy them in the pharmacy.

The only problem you are likely to have is finding the right shop open at the right time. Your best bet is to visit a superstore like Cora or Leclerc on your first day and buy everything you need. These shops usually have in-store pharmacy / parapharmacy departments. Often smaller supermarkets and neighbourhood shops will not have the complete range of anything (nappies for 2 year olds when you're looking for newborn size). Pharmacies and smaller supermarkets also tend to close from 12:00 noon Sunday until Tuesday morning.

Thanks Inqq. I am using Avent bottles with NUK latex teats large size with valve. She does not like the Avent silicone teats. My baby usually finishes her 4oz in 3 mins. and usually complains when I use the small size teat/bottle.
Thanks Mamadavid. May I ask if you are from the North of France? I was just wondering since you mentioned Cora superstore. I will be going to Saint Brice Sous Foret, then Champigny S/marne, then maybe Toulouse and then Annecy.

Hello,
The superstores in France are: superU, cora, leclerc, carrefour, auchan, casino, intermarche, ... Some are very big, I don't know so bigger one in hk. They are open from monday to saturday (9am to 7 or 8pm).
I have checked: St Brice and Champigny are really closed to Paris. So you can find a lot of superstores.
Toulouse and Annecy are also really big towns in France, so no problem for the superstore.
For pharmacy, there are nearly one in each village (+1000inhabitants). They are opened from monday to friday (9am to 6 or 7pm), and on saturday morning also. Some are closed on saturday afternoon.
But be careful. all shops are closed on sunday. Sometimes closed to Paris it is different.
Milk: "formule epaissie" thick milk. I have you galia 1er age (blue box).

If you are going to france just for holidays, will it mean a max of a couple of weeks or so there, is that right? in such circumstances, might be worth to simply take with you what you will need for formula: you will not find exactly same brands between HK an France, and compositions might vary too, after living through a few years back the experience, much better to bring your own, will avoid some stocmac troubles with the change of formula.
Agree with above, nappies is not an issue.

Hi Ghie, I also gave my two kids S26/Pampers Premium when they were young, also found S26 taste too much of sucrose and cause constipation. But I won’t suggest you to switch formula to another brand when you travel. However, I was searching like crazy in Paris when we first went back to France for holiday with the baby; we were unable to find S26 in any supermarket, i.e., Carrefour, Casino, Le Bon Marche, and Lafayette…, not any kind of formula which comes with vanilla flavor like S26.
Like the other said, there are plenty of good brands for milk in France. Just depends whether your baby likes it or not. FYI, if I’m not mistaken, Pampers “Premium” is not available in France.

You know panties are nearly all the same, because more often come out from the same factory.
To choose the right ones in France, go to supermarket, in pharmacy it is really too expensive. You must know the weight of your baby in kilogramms, and choose a trade like pampers, huggies, peaudouce (I remenber peaudouce was cheap but very nice).
One things, for lingettes, choose huggies, they are more efficient. You can buy them at the supermarket.
Be careful, Temperature is low in France in december. And Annecy is closed to the Alps. Don't forget hot clothes, and gloves.

Thanks hkfrenchie.
Thanks RLAP.
It seems that I will have to bring 2-3 cans of Marion's S26 with me which would take 3kgs of her 10kgs baggage allowance!!!
Thanks Inqq. I think it would be better if I bring nappies for 3 days only and purchase the rest in any superstore in Paris. I have been in Annecy once and my baby Marion has a very thick jumpsuit with gloves, more like a skiing suit. And I will be taking around 5 fleece blankets since they are very light weight and very warm.

I had a REALLY REALLY hard time finding formula for my baby in France. In the shops they looked at me as if I was mad and in the pharmacy I was the worlds worst mother becasue I wasn't breast feeding. They do have it in the supermarkets for older babies and in the pharmacy but it was SOOOOOOO difficult to get, I really would take it with you becuase you don't want to be stuck with none

Ghie,
Do you want us to translate you some sentence in French? Like this you could copy them and just give the paper to peeople in the supermarket or pharmacy.
Be careful, in France, people who speak English are not common.

Oh that is very nice of you Inqq... thank you...
I will be with my live-in partner in France (from Toulouse). He is more a "everything is alright" kind of guy, my exact opposite because I am more of a planning and ready for anything kind of person.
I know what you mean with people not talking in English. Some do not even exert an effort. Ive travelled to France quite a lot but I have never, of course, looked at the baby stuff area as my pregnancy was not planned. I actually came back Jan 2006 in HK coming from France pregnant!
Thank you very much for the offer.
