ESF Bradbury School

Are there any parents out there who have kids or know of someone who has kids who are attending the ESF Bradbury school in Stubb Road.

I would like to know if Bradbury has any Chinese/Mandarin lesson incorporated in their curriculum and how often are the classes.

Our son is due for Primary Year one next September and we are not sure if he should attend the new ESF Private Independent School in Ma On Shan or let him try the Bradbury School which falls under our catchment area. We want him to have more exposure in Chinese language but it will be a major decision for the whole family to move from HK side to the Ma On Shan area where the school campus is. Yes, we could still choose to live on HK side and he goes to school there (if he get accepted) but a daily 3-hour commute within Hong Kong just sounds a bit crazy and maybe taxing on a 5 year old kid.

If Bradbury has regular Chinese lessons, then we could stay put where we are now. Of course we want the best for him (which parents wouldn't) but we also have a younger son to consider about his kindergarten as well and I have absolutely no idea on what the Ma On Shan/Shatin area has to offer in terms of international kindergarten. FYI, I am Chinese by race but do not read or write the language.

Any info you could provide would be very useful. Thank you.

Thank you so much for your info. It certainly helps to know as the main reason why we are considering the Renaissance College is under their curriculum more than 20% is spent on Chinese language and currently primary year one students have like 4 chinese classes per week and each session last for 50minutes.

I have a kid at Bradbury School and highly recommend it to anyone - the teachers are excellent and the overall standards high.

They do have Mandarin classes and this is one area of the curriculum that the ESF is looking to strengthen throughout its schools as it has been patchy in the past.

Additional private Mandarin tuition may be a less 'traumatic' option than moving.
