We started looking at high chairs (our bub is 4months old). There was this combi one with flat reclining and swing function which is huge and quite ugly. Other wodden ones look nice but no flat reclying or swing. There were ones with slight reclying with or without swing/slide. Can anyone advice, please?

We have a Prima Pappa, it has been very good for the last 6 years and hopefully will see another baby sometime! I like the I can adjust the height(remove the tray) and push it up to the dining room table for family dinners.

we had an aprica (similar to the combi one) day bed/ swing/ converts to hi-lo chair etc which we thought would be brilliant when we got it. it served us well as a day bed for the baby but when we tried to use it as a high chair it was terrible. the angle of the incline wasn't quite right, so the baby didn't get to sit comfortably if she wanted to lean back, plus the fabric and cushion inserts would get smeared with food. all the insulation made her quite hot aswell.

in the end we bought the white plastic one (antilop) from ikea with the removable tray (under $250 i think) and it's been brilliant. really easy to clean, sturdy and not fiddly at all. you can get a cushion insert from mothercare ($180) which makes it more comfortable.

A lot of parents (and kids) love the Stokke, but it is quite expensive.

We have a almost 20 year old Mothercare high chair that we got for free - it does the job.

Saying that, we stayed at a hotel recently and used a really posh one, and it was very nice! So I do see the benefit of adjustbable table heights and removable tables so it can be used as a chair against the table.

mm, i think we stopped using it around 3-4 mths or so because she didn't like lying in it when she was awake plus her legs were hanging over the edge by that time (she grew quite a bit since birth). even with the newborn insert, she looked so tiny in it at the beginning, but by about 3 months it definetely looked snug.

but it was the most used baby item for the first couple of months though.

For me the best solution is booster seat. In mothercare you can find many.

It is nice because you can use it since the baby can sit until 6 years old. Some have a removable table, it's better like this.

whatever brand it is, get those that are:

sturdy (obviously) and without fabric...you would want one that you can just hose down for cleaning in the bathroom at the end of the day..believe me it can get pretty messy!!

i know because i have to remove the cushions off my kid's and wash it which is very annoying. i wished i got the cheap one from ikea, it's used in lots of cafes and restaurants and does the job!

We got ours from ebabyasia, I don't think it exists these days.

I'm pretty sure they sell them in Bumps to Babes, the new ones have removable covers but ours is pretty easy to keep clean.

ours was from sogo. Fisher price - not a super expensive one, but fits the smaller babies really well. It reclines, lifts up and down.

Then we graduated to the stokke kinderzeat which comes with a safety rail so young babies can sit in it. We love our kinderzeat. (our 30 month old sits in it - our #2 is in our fisher price.)

We did the same thing as hkcc, when ours was really little and still in need of full back support, we had a Fisher Price Healthy Care highchair which we got from Toys R Us...it was great. Inexpensive, fit her well, comfortable, and easy enough to clean up with its plastic cushion. Then when she was closer to 2, quite good at sitting and not going to slip down under a table anymore, we got the Stokke Tripp Trapp (without the extra small baby attachments). It's a fabulous chair for older ones, and fully adjustable...you could use it as an adult :-) The thing I like best about the Stokke is that she sits properly, back straight, legs and feet well aligned...it develops proper posture.

dizzydog, my thinking was right! I thought it would have been a very nice thing to have in the last couple of months. I think I will go for a simpler choices like the ones suggested above by many moms. It seems lots of moms have started with plastic ones and then upgraded to Stokke type. Would Stoke do the job for small size babies, too? I think I will try it with my bub in BtoB. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences!
