Don't rule out Malaysia Airlines. They have direct flights to Buenos Aires from KL (with a stop-over in South Africa). Their website is useless, so it might be worth giving them a ring.
Buenos Aires is a lot of fun and summer (i.e. Feburary) is the best time to be there. The Andes are also great. Fly to Bariloche for the Andes. For whales, penguins, killer whales, etc head to Puerto Madryn/Trelew in the Welsh Patagonia.

i did go on malaysia airlines. i entered the dates i wanted to fly and i got, "flight is not available on the date you requested". i changed it 3 or 4 times. why can't they just tell me which dates i can fly??? thank you for your suggestion. i will call them then. i was thinking of going in february, for the chinese new year break. i used to go to ocean park at least twice a year as a kid so thanks for the tips on marine life =)

just call an agent it is much easier then online.

I live in Buenos Aires and february is a quiet month. I think in 4/5 days you can see the city, then you can go either to the north, Salta that is really nice but a litte to warm in February or you can go to the south, Bariloche, Ushuaia. If you like wines, you can go to mendoza. You won´t get bored. If you need more information my e-mail: carolina.bravo@marcasdelsur.com
