I only know of 2 places in the city - Sparkles in the Pedder Building and one in the Grand Progress Building in LKF i think it is called Eve B or something like that. Both quite reasonable.

Sparkles often has sale items - not sure if alot under $300 though. Good range of western sizes and styles if that's what you need.

Have you tried Zara or Mango? They sometimes carry semi-formal dress...I've bought a couple from Zara and they're both relatively cheap.

try dress code, gresson st wan chai, behind market stalls if coming in from Queens Rd East, will be on right hand side. its not easy to find, I remember a meat stall and its in the back of that. Lots of dresses, around, 300 and up.. good luck.. she has lots of ''label'' brands, and ask for discount !!

The one that allynz is talking about is called Evelyn B Fashion. It is in the Grand Progress Building in Lan Kwai Fong on the 7th and 8th floors; however you will want to look on the 8th floor for a dress.

it's such a headache finding a good dress. this year i'm going to wear what i wore last year i think/ i just can't be bothered looking! but i have bought some new shoes!
