My son wants to go to Legoland next summer. I know there are several of them in Europe and one in California. Has anyone been to any of them? What are they like?

18 months ago, I took my son to the one in Windsor, about an hour train ride from London and it's very interesting. How old is your son? Maybe an older kid like 4 and above would know how to appreciate it better. If time permits, you can tour around Windsor too as it has beautiful castles.

I went to the original Legoland in Billund, Denmark quite a number of years ago now. It was great, but I couldn't say it's the same now. If your son wants to go then it sounds like he's old enough to know what it is, and he should enjoy it.

I was at the one in Carlsbad in September. It is fun and really geared towards young kids. I took my 4 year old nephew there and we had a blast. He is not a big fan of rides, but there are plenty of workshops and playgrounds so that he still had a great time. Many of the rides are not too scary though, and there are some water fountains to play in. Since it is about 20 minutes to San Diego, you could combine it with Sea World, the San Diego Zoo and the Wild Animal park (not all in the same day though). Not at all crowded when I went.
