2 PCs, one socket and modem box

I use Netvigator broadband and have a single wall socket that looks like a standard phone socket and that has a a modem (?) box connected to it to which my PC is connected. Can I connect two PCs to the modem box, & have both access the broadband at the same time, just by adding a suitable double outlet on the modem box and feed each of the PCs from the box with their own cable?

I use Netvgator and have the ISDN modem mentioned. I have connected it to a cheap $350 Level1 wireless router and it works great. It provides wireless as well as four network ports.

You can find the Level1 router I use at any computer mall. It's very popular.

If you don't need wireless, you can probably get a 4 port router for about $150.

Unless you are paying for multiple user accounts, you need a separate router for multiple PC's to connect to a Netvigator ADSL modem.

Not really, I have a modem supplied by PCCW with extra sockets at the back. (Sorry, not very techno minded) I managed to feed an extra cable from the ground floor to the first floor and still get internet access, using the same personal account.

As tmk says, with Netvigator broadband, the single user plan only allows you 1 login. This means that, if you want more than 1 PC to connect at the same time, you need to set up a router. The router does the connection to Netvigator and then the multiple PCs connect to the router. If you have a multi-user plan you can have 2 or 4 logins. This is unrelated to how many ports you have on the back of the modem.

Yes, I have only one account in my name but I can hook up two computers to it, up to a max of four.

Brian, you need a router. But a router that can do this costs less than $200.
