Hi, I am housewife with a lovely one year old baby. My life is totally revolving around my baby despite having a helper in the house. My husband says I am loosing my personality and that I need to get a life. Well, for starters I definitely don't want a full-time job cause I love being around my baby. Any suggestions too keep myself busy constructively thereby displaying a healthy personality.

The only thing that comes in my mind are my hobbies i.e. reading, socialising, singing etc...

Reading, well I end up getting baby development related books no matter how hard I try to resist.

Socialising, I end up talking about baby food, baby games, baby development....

Singing, ha ha ha well nursery rhymes are fine for me these days.

Somebody HELP!!!!

Why don't you join a choir - there are lots of good ones around. That way you'd get out of the house one night a week and hubby can look after baby (he won't mind - he wants your personality back after all) - you'll also get some socialising in too - and it'll be totally non baby related.

Or, join a book group - lots of those around too - probably less of a commitment - once a month - and you'll be forced to read something non baby related - and again, get out and socialise.

Oh I forgot to mention. I come from a traditional type of home. Gals don't go out at night and weekends are for hubbies. My friends never call on weekends.

Maybe you have a beautiful life just the way it is right now! How can it be any more perfect? you are with your baby and you are happy, perhaps in fact you have "got yourself a life"!

There are book clubs that meet during the day on week days with both the AWA and the Aust assoc.

Both these assoc also have coffee mornings and plenty of opportunities to volunteer your time with worthy causes.

Get a cross trainer, or a bunch of home exercise DVDs from www.collage.com and jump around a bit - if you have the space. You will feed good and bubs will grow up around a sporty mama, a great example!

Having said that, I havent started exercising myself yet, and bubs is almost 6 months. I find that juggling work and breast feeding, still waking nights is all I can do to keep going, so savour these momemts at home, I wish I could have done it for longer.
