I once got thrown off a bus for refusing to collapse my buggy whilst my 3 month old slept in it.

However, exactly the same bus nu,ber came along 10 minutes and let me travel, buggy up without any probs.

I have always just ignored what the driver was saying if they started to talk to me about the buggy not being collapsed. I put it up again in the aisle so I could put my one year old in while I dealt with my two year old.

ie. I feel for you big time, buses are hardest by far I use them all the time and have two babies but always try to take a second person with me. That has been impossible occassionally and I had to tough it out. Especially when they were both tired and needed to sleep!

If there is a wheel chair access and space to buckle in the buggy I have used that before when we had a double buggy and one of them was asleep.

But usually I will use a front pack, even though he's one and very heavy!!! and a small collapsible stroller that's easy to put up and down for my two year old.

I got rid of the double buggy as it wasn't working for us here really. and a good front pack plus a little stroller that can lie down to sleep your one year old would probably work best for bus trips once baby comes.

Actually most bus drivers have been helpful if they see I'm struggling to get off with everything.

Oh and good luck for the birth of your second baby, now that mine are one and two they are such great mates always laughing and entertaining each other. I'm so stoked I had them close together.

Did anyone see HK magazine this week - the "last week in reality" section? - some bus drivers might understandably be a bit touchy about letting people on with a buggy after one poor driver got beaten up by an abusive passenger...

AAAHH just read that article! Okay that might be taking things too far. And tears would be my most likely reaction to being stopped and humiliated for just trying to keep my baby asleep on the bus.

Actually I always find that the little grandmas and other ladies ont he bus are helpful if you need an extra pair of hands. We're so ashamed to ask for help from strangers but people do care and can be really nice if we just ask.

Taking a Bus in Samoa, the pacific Island was a REAL bus experience, there if the bus starts getting full everyone just sits on each others knees! I jumped onto my husbands knee before a big fat samoan lady took her place on my knee. They take friendly to new levels haha.
