Handyman problem

We got a guy out of The List to repair our toilet. He manged to drop the water reservoir when he was pulling it all apart and is now asking us to pay the $4,000 for a new unit.

Anyone dealt with something like this before?

I talked to him half an hour ago and got the feeling we may not hear from him again as I kindly explained he was footing the bill.
