Hi- I am unable to return home for Christmas, but can still take time off.
Does anyone have any suggestions of places to go? I would prefer less commercialised places.
At the moment, I am leaning towards Luang Prabang in Laos, but there may not be any hotel rooms available. Flights are also tight.
I know its late, please reply with any ideas. Thanks

Try the Empire Hotel in Brunei... It's awesome.
There is a free theme park which the King build for the public.
As for Vietnam, you may try the various gun shooting range..

I would think it unlikely that VN flights would be fully booked, but that is easy to check. I am told that Phu Quoc is pleasant this time of year. South of HCMC it is warm. It isn't too commercialized.

Amazing there are a lot of suggestions on Vietnam. I love that place too, not too commercialized and peaceful...really, and all the people are polite. Remember to try their local coffee, the last time I've got a souvenier coffee maker set from the restaurant I've been.
And the visit to the old war sites is highly recommended :)
