Can someone recommend me an economical laundromat in the Central area, preferably around "the center". Thanks for any info.

By Laundromat, I'm sure you mean laundry? There are no "laundromats" (self-service, coin-operated) in Hong Kong. People who don't have washing machines at home either hand wash everything, or take it to a laundry/dry cleaner. Rates are reasonable, and charged by weight.
There is a laundry/dry cleaner on Queen's Road Central next to "Japan Home Center". Looks like a dry cleaners only, but they do laundry too. You'll need to separate your clothes and give them specific temperature instructions, as they just throw everything in together otherwise. They'll return your laundry folded (though not exceptionally neatly so) in plastic bags.
