how long can yoghurt keep in a cooler bag? we dropped the pm feed recently because he was drinking so little so replacing the feed with a yoghurt and fresh fruit snack instead. he always takes the natural plain ones.
but on days when we are out during this time i don't really want to cart around an opened cup of yoghurt (he takes about 2-3 days to finish a 200ml cup). i might need to feed him those baby yoghurt as they are the ideal portion for baby. but i can't possibly nip into a supermarket everytime when i am out (and what will i do with the remaing 5 tubs in the pack). so i was wondering if it's ok to put a little tub in my cooler bag when i go out and if so, how long will it keep. does anyone else do this? thanks!

when we go out, we transfer the yogurt into a small travel container - use that, and what is not used from the goes into the bin.
Works well for us :)

hi crj,
so i suppose those little pots will survive in the cooler bag too. but how long would the yoghurt usually be in the cooler bag before you feed your baby?

a few hours - I mean, yogurt is already 'off', so I figure it lasts for a while out of the fridge! Sometimes not even in the cooler bag, just thrown in the diaper bag.

you have a point...although singapore is sooo hot i don't really want it to stew in my bag for too long :)

yes, I only do this in HK 'winter' or when the bag will be inside in A/C most of the time.

thanks crj,
think what i will do it put the yoghurt in cooler bag for not more than 3 hours (the cooler bag keeps stuff cool up to 4 hours)...if i am going to be out alot longer, think i'd rather buy from a supermarket while out than risk my baby getting a dodgy tummy!

It's hard to say the safe period of using cool bag for storage of yogurt as the size and brand and portion of yogurt vary the temperature. It's better to place a cool bag for trial. Generally yogurt should be discarded 2 hours after keeping at room temperature.
