Hi, I'm female and live in Central and am looking to train for the London Marathon! Can anyone recommend a running club I could train with. I do run now but only up to about 8km and perhaps more of a poodle!

Cheers

P.

Hi Pam,

Quite a challenge- respect to you. I would suggest a holistic approach- to run a marathon you need to consider weight training and nutrition as well as running. You will need to have short term goals to work towards and a programme which changes regularly with rest stages every so often to avoid over stressing your body. Fitness First is running some advice programme before the standard chartered run in March which may help if you can get on it. good luck.

Do I need to come and join Fitness First then?

Not sure, just saw it advertised- but I wouldn't join them just for that. You will need to do some weight training to prepare for a marathon- I'm sure you can find the info elsewhere too but if it's open to all it might be helpful - knowing FF it may also be rubbish but from novice to marathon- any help you can get might be worth looking into.
