Well, this is not exactly Shenzhen but you can get a bus easily from underneath Lo Wu City to Dongguan (just north of Shenzhen) and get off at the terminal that's about a ten-minute walk from the South China Mall. That spooky place is billed as the world's largest shopping mall (however, unspoken is that many of the shop lots are not open). Inside the mall there is one of the largest D-i-Y household wares/plumbing/paint/fixtures/tools/etc. shops I ever saw outside America. You can't miss it, it has everything (really), and it's an interesting day trip. And it's open. It's possible a Google search of the mall will spit out the name but I've not tried.

Call the YWCA in McDonnell Road and ask if they have any trips going to the Homewares stores in Shenzhen. I have been on a couple. Fab place, everything for the home from bathroom sink to table lamps and a fraction of what you pay in HK. The group hires a bus to collect people from Queens Pier, takes them right to the shopping Mall (3 buildings) and then back to Queens Pier. Think the Australia Association does it as well.

I believed only charcoal grill are available in China as they are mostly used and reasonably affordable... If you want the gas grill and at a 1/2 decent quality, then you must try to get it in HK, but expect to pay at least $5,000 for a 3-4 burners... Actually, I had a friend that bought a really nice all brand new 4 burners stainless steel off this site for about $5,200...He might still have the seller's contact.. I can get it for you if you like...

Thanks Bayliner, that's why I asked about Shenzhen, the prices here are too high. In fact most of the bbq's sold in HK seem to be made in China or Taiwan.
