I am separated and don't want to stay in HK for X'mas. I am thinking a getaway somewhere in Malaysia or Thailand from 23/12 till 27/12. Any suggestion? Anyplace offer training for sailing, diving, cannoe, surfing...?

Have you considered a Club Med? Heaps of organised activities and at the one I went to (Bali) big dinner tables so it was always lots of different people at a single table for dinner so you never ate alone and met lots of people.

Thanks for your advise, actually I also thought about that. Do you have any details on that. I am afraid it might be too late for booking as I am now at the middle of the exam (on 21/12). Anyway, I will try.

My only Club Med experience was in Bali in '95 with 5 girlfriends but we has a great time and I think you would have a good time. If one person in our group wanted to do an activity they just went and at each actiivity there were always wives and mums that had left their family to do something else so if you were on your own it was easy to meet others who may have friends or family at the club with them but not at that activity. At dinner the tables sat 8 or 10 people so for every meal others also joined us and usually some of the staff so there was always alot of interaction. They also has a nightclub and the staff really went out of their way to show you a good time - it was a bit cheesy at times but there was certainly alot to do. A few people have posted about Club Med on this forum recommending different ones. Give them a call - you may not be too late to make a booking and there are several Clubs in Asia.

I would recommend going someplace where you are doing something specific and have an opportunity to learn something and meet people. If you don't already scuba dive, do soemthing like that.
Puerta Galera in the Philippines is the best place in Asia to learn to dive. There are loads of people going for Christmas and it is a friendly inclusive type of place. Lots of places to stay, Le Galleon, Asia Divers, Atlantis, Portofinos, etc

I have bought a ticket to Bangkok just have few days away from HK (23 till 27). Hope I will enjoy this holiday.
I also planned to go scuba diving in Philippine during Chinese new year. (I have got the license, but never dive outside HK).
