Yes if you only shop in malls, department stores and chained stores. Because they all sell the same sort of stuff. BUT if you go out of your way to find little shops here and there where unique handmade products are sold, it is far from boring.

not only choice is very limited, most stuff are severely overpriced as well...the price we pay usually does not reflect the quality of the item, instead we are merely paying for their rent.
i'm not familiar with shanghai though 've been there...if you can describe what style, size and price range you are after, maybe I or others can contribute.

shopping is a pain in the behind, slow walkers, staff can never help me find things, always have to ask their friends who ask their friends, customer services are really bad.
