Hi,
We need help with which mobile company to go with. The phoen is for my wife, and she will be calling/sms to the UK and to her family in Sweden. She will also need soem free local calls for calling me during the week! Can anyone suggest the best operator and/or tariff?
Also, we live in Stanley/Tai Tam....anyone know if sundays coverage is good there?

I don't know about its Stanley/Tai Tam coverage, but I signed up to a CSL 1010 tariff a few months ago and I'm happy with it. Always works fine in Sai Kung and Central.
I pay a monthly charge of HKD138 a month and for that I get 800 basic minutes free, 50 local SMS and 50 free IDD minutes a month so, when I remember to, I use my mobile to make free calls to landline and mobile numbers in the UK, though I tend to use 0060 from the landline as it's so cheap. However, I don't know about calls to Sweden...
Voicemail, call waiting, call display etc. are free and I'm due to be getting 4,000 Asia Miles credited to my account this month for signing up to it. So far no probs with their service. You might want to check out any deals they have going at the moment and compare with the other providers.

Just get Skype via Internet and your calls are free if the person at the other end does so too.
I don't even have a landline and using my mobile only for local calls.

Skype is ok for pc to pc but does not offer consistant quality pc to tel... this does:

And, I have to say, Skype hs been working just fine for me, using the cheapest headphones and even with a webcam.

Skype does not work most of the time when making pc to tel calls... its ok for pc to pc

I mostly call a landline in Europe via Skype, works just fine. A couple of times called a mobile. Several times customer service (credit card) in US/Canada. Always worked fine, maybe 2 times altogether with a bit of echo.
