The problem may not be the programs the "visitors" downloaded. The problem may simply be the fact that digital photos have gotten bigger, and can no longer be sent as-is because they are too big.
You'll need to download another utility... this time something to quickly make photos a more manageable size.
Oh... I see the previous poster recommended Microsoft Image Resizer. I am not familiar with this because I use Mac, but it sounds like a good idea, and exactly what you need.

Before uploading pics to my laptop, I resize the photos (to VGA) I intend to send via email. If it's only one or a few photos, sending as an attachment is fine.
If sending multiple photos (which are at least 500kb), I keep an online album at snapfish.com. Yahoo photos is likewise convenient and easy to use
