Hi All
We are an aussie couple reloacting to Hong Kong in April.
I have 2 little boys aged 2 and 3 and a double pram/stroller.
I am after any feedback about taking it on the MTA. Is is possible, do the stations have lifts, is their enough room in the carriages??
Or do I not even think about it??
Any feedback will be much appreciated
Kylie

Hi Everyone...
I REALLY appreciate your responses. My boys are pretty good about staying close to me ect (they are actually 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 and that extra 6 months makes a difference).
I have a double Mountain Buggy that I use to exercise with and another smaller out and about pram and am trying to work out which one to bring with us as we won;t have room for the two.... sounds like to bigger pram for exercise and a pocket full of bribery to use the MTR!!
Many thanks
Kylie

Would definately avoid the MTR with a buggy. Use a taxi or bus. You will rarely see a 31/2 year old in a buggy in HK, they get used to walking at a young age! I would seriously consider a car with 2 young kids, it just makes life so much easier, even simple things like going to the beach and being able to stick all the buckets and spades in the boot.

I got around for 5 years without a car, using the buses and MTR frequently and the kids actually loved it. Admittedly, carrying the buggy up MTR stairs was a pain in the a**e, but i believe the MR are now gettting round to putting lifts in all of their stations.
You either see it as a challenging adventure, get a car or don't go out!

Thank everyone.... not going out is not an option for me! I am not a "stay at home" stay at home mum and plan to be out every day.... I think my husbands work will be arranging the car, but it may be a month or so of other options.
Hadn't really thought about taxis before as we don't have a reliable service where I live in Oz.. but will now
Thanks again

Hi Avoca!
I had a couble buggy but sold it when I got here. Mine are 13 months and 2 1/2 so it's busy.
You can absolutely take a double buggy on the MTR out here in the New Territories. It's Central and around HK Island that is a total nightmare. Some of my worst days here have been trying to find ways down stairs with that big thing. So now we have a lighter weight double stroller that collapses like an umbrella stroller. I can do it one handed while holding baby so that's pretty good. And a single stroller, again lightweight for when we use buses. Our older one walks and baby goes in stroller.
Depends where you live how much you will use it.
You'll be surprised here how much kids walk, they don't use strollers as much as us and I am amazed to see little one year olds walking along for what seems a long time to me.
If you have a car you'll be fine with your double if just going to malls or parks.
We are not that well off so it's buses and trains for us!
