Will Comet McNaught be viewable in Hong Kong? If so, when is the best night for viewing? And where are the best spots (easily accessible from Central) for photographing the night sky? Should I go out to Lamma?

Well, this week it's in the northern hemisphere. It's supposed to be viewable in the southern hemisphere in a few weeks. On assumes it's got to cross the equator to get there...

I'm happy for the days when we get to see the moon. Unless this is some really bright meteor, I doubt if its going to be visible :(

First, it's not a meteor, it's a comet.
Second, although HK is north of the Equator, the comment was that HK was too low in latitude to see the comet. My reply was simply stating that the viewable latitude of the comet would have to go from north to south somehow.

The comet should be seen for a few weeks in the northern hemisphere before it crosses to the southern hemisphere. Once in the southern hemisphere it should apparently stay there for quite some time.
The comet is supposed to pass extremely close to the sun (as comets go) and that has a good and a bad side to it. Good: scientists are saying this may eb the brightest comet in recorded history. Bad: there will be a period as the comet goes from the northern to the southern hemisphere where it won't be visible from Earth, because it'll be direcly in front of the sun. I couldn't find out anything about whether HKers will be able to see it, but I'd guess so, considering how bright it's supposed to be. I'm looking forward to seeing it!
