Unclogging a plug-hole

The bath in my guest bathroom is taking a long time to drain so I've been trying the usual products on sale in supermarkets to clear it. Although they've always worked fine for the kitchen sink and other bathrooms, they haven't cleared the guest bath and it's still very slow. Can you recommend something strong and effective which won't damage metal or plastic? I was thinking about trying a hardware store but I'm not actually sure what to ask for.

have you tried taking a toilet plunger and seeing what sort of nastiness comes out?

we regularly take our toilet plunger - and then bAM - hair, all sorts of disgusting stuff comes back into the but. WE take that, and put it into the trash, then for good measure stick the regular grade drano type stuff.

Try Pipeman, also from Japan, take away the nasty smell as well.

If you go to a Japan Home Store or any of the local Chinese 'homeware' stores that sell tupperware, etc. you will find drain cleaner. It is bloody potent stuff...sizzles and blows smoke when you pore it down the drain. But it works, and straight away. just not sure what type of chemicals I inhaled in the process.
