We have this model but we bought it in the UK. Have never seen it on sale here and the Tom Tom website does not have Hong Kong on its list of countries where ther products are sold so suspect there are no authorised distributors here. You could try contacting them via the website to check www.tomtom.com.
We do have a Hong Kong map but haven't used it much. I will check where we got it and let you know. I don't think the functionality is as good as the UK maps.

Why would GPS not be available in Hong Kong – it is a GLOBAL Positioning System after all… What is true is that accuracy and time to determine ones location are negatively affected by Hong Kong’s topography and building density, especially on Hong Kong Island. One of the reasons why GPS usage has not really taken off here – and a result there are far fewer GPS solutions, maps, etc. available for Hong Kong. Believe some people use it when hiking in the New Territories, etc. and for boating (that is where use it).

Hm, that is roughly in line what I have heard - was told GPS not functional in 40% of Hong Kong. But all anecdotal and unclear whether these figures relate to the entire HKG SAR, HKG island, or whatever. Would think that GPS works well in, say, the New Territories - have never had a problem with it on the boat either.
And there are HKG specific GPS units on the market(believe Mitec is/was selling a version of the Miio 169 customized for the Hong Kong market), so presume there are some users out there. Whether they use it for driving in Hong Kong is a different question...

It is available in HK as I saw many in some cars. As a matter of fact their is a dealer next to my office who set them up in your car. I have no idea which one they have but looks like it is getting more and more popular. I also saw some in english in the computer center in Star House (TST). The cost was around 2500/3K if I remember. It was together with a pocket PC.
In my office, it is GPS only. Also I do not have their contact but their are in 16 or 15 Ko Fai Rd, Yau Tong. (street level)

I have a GPS that I use for hiking. Sometimes, out of boredom, I turn it on the top deck of the bus on the way to the hike. It seldom gets a signal in the vehicle because of the tall buildings (you need a clear line of sight to at least three - or is it four? - satellites). For driving directions in HK, I think it would be about as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike.

When we arrived in HK not too many months ago my husband's employer order him a new Mercedes and he was asked by the Dealer what options he would like. On the list was the GPS system. When he asked if it was easy to use for finding his way around HK he was told, "no map for HK"! Consequently he did not take that option!

I also use Map King on my pda for driving in HK. As Zinzan noted, it's not a perfect software but it's better than nothing. It has voice directions and we find it very helpful.
We bought a small cheap GPS receiver and mounted it on the dashboard.
