Rugby Sevens with Bubba

Posted this in Sport but it might be better here. Really looking forward to the Sevens this year. Any advice about taking our baby (6 month old)as we don't have a helper and don't want to miss out. Probably end up doing split days but just wondered about anyone's experiences?

It is extremely noise, extremely crowded, very steep, really dirty by the end of the day. With a baby I don't think you will enjoy yourself. Split days would be my bet. If a very robust little thing who can sleep anywhere, and not fussy about loud noises etc maybe Ok for a while in the mornings but at six months I seem to remember they want to be down on the ground most of the time and putting everthing in their mouths so can't see how you will amuse him/her for such a long period of tim. There is also the tranport home issue and waiting in lines - not pleasant at he best of times but with a grizzly tot in tow... think 12 hour flight to London with loud noises and drunk people.. What about splurging on four hours of a nanny for the last bit of the weekend so you can go together - somoeon like rent a mum?

I took my little one last year just for the Sunday afternoon - he was four months at the time. Ness is right - it is very noisy, very crowded and once you're sat down you're pretty much stuck there. Doing split days sounds great but you're going to need someone to help you get a drink etc? There is absolutely NO room to move.

Ness's idea of getting a babysitter for part of it sounds like a sensible idea.

Saying that, my little one was fascinated. He watched the rugby the whole time, and had his nap while the band was playing - yes he slept right through THAT racket!! But if you take your little one, don't worry too much - just enjoy it!

Barring that, it's always on TV!!

Hi Robbob we too love the 7's and althought when we went we hadn't had our bubs by then we sat in the non drinking stand. It was'nt as roudy but you were right next to the south stand so could see all the roudiness and you could still drink if you really wanted to as people were outing their beers into coke cups. Even thought it was a non drinking stand it was mostly parently like you that were in there and they were just having a quite drink (sneeky but quiet). Yes it's noisy but we took our bubs to a huge match one night in Perth to see the last WestForce game and she sleep throught the whole thing and it was very loud due to the eciting game being played. I was worried at first but it really didn't seem to bother her. So i reckon give it a go, sit in the quietier stand (sld be the East stand) you get to see all the action ge to watch the south stand and just keep in your expecations low incase bubs just isn't interested and then go to plan B the split days! All the best we'll see you there!

As a nanny, my busiest weekend of the year has always been the 7s. I lok after children when parents go, it ranges from 4 hours to the whole day (a part of the night!) Up to you... But at the 7s and trying to have a good time with baby in tow, the noise and the smell of alcohol... Good luck!
