Depends on what your wife want. These are easy to access as you can take the MRT/skytrain(BTS)or taxi and within the main city area.
1. Thai silk - Jim Thompson's brand. There are several shops in malls/hotels throughout Bangkok . Below will be easy to locate
- Emporium mall, Siam Paragon mall, Isetan Central World , Siam Paragon mall are in downtown. You can also get it at several hotels ( Oriental Hotel has a good selection)
2. Weekend market "Chatuchak Market" , >1000 vendors where you can get a wide range of local made stuff, ranging from clothes, paintings, bags, handicraft (wood/ceramic vases, bowls, furniture, baskets etc). Need to bargain here. Slash to 30% and then move up.
Open only on Sat and Sun, reach there by 8.30am to avoid the crowd.
Instead of a taxi, take the BTS train and get off at Mochit station. (faster and avoid the traffic). The market is directly in front.
3. Gaysorn Plaza -also have some local handicraft stuff, if you miss Chatuchak market.
