Never had hair longer than shoulder length in my life! But with a lot of patience I've been able to grow them till the bra-backstrap length and simply love them.
But here's the problem -- they do not look as stylish as they used to when I had them short. They're just plain long hair with waves.
I do not want to straighten them and I do not want to get them cut in drastic steps. It's just too painful for me to get strands of them cut and thrown.
Am looking for a stylist who can either cut them minimally to give them ''the look'', or teach me to do some simple styles like tying them up in a neat knot when I go out.
Can anyone help? Thanks. And yes, I am based right here in HK!

Zonked, its a common issue whith people who have longer hair or who are in the growing process. Dont worry as there ar options. Of course you want to take the minimum off the length but keep it looking healthy at the same time. One thing you REALLY need to watch out for in HK is this trend to thin out the base line of the hair, avoid this at all costs. If you want your hair long and sexy you need to keep some weight on the base line to give is structure. You can then shape around the front or with some long layers to allow the hair to move and flow while giving a nice frame to the face. Of course take your face shape into consideration for how to structure the layering or graduation.
Tying up your hair is also a fun way to wear your new long locks. The use of bobby pins, clips and hair bands help to hold the hair in place. You can make some simple adjustments to the hair to create some different looks without too much effort.
As we always recommend, go for a consultation before you make any commitments. Once you are comfortable with the direction the stylist wants to work with go for it.

Oh yes, I just DO NOT want them to be thinned!! That is the very reason I'm scared to go to salons in HK. They all like to thin your hair. I've healthy thick hair and like them that way.
Can you tell me where to go?? Are you into this business?? I want to learn to create different looks.

Zonked, yes i am in the business and work in a salon in Central called The Hairdressers. We have a few very qualified stylist here and there are also some other very qualified people around. As I mentioned it is always advised to have a consultation first and maybe even visit a few different places to find someone you really connect with.

Thanks D-man and Douglas Lillico for your time to write on my thread. How can I contact you both?
Also, though I do love my hair, I am not really looking at spending a fortune on it. I hope I can get some consultation and a cut, if required, at a reasonable price.

hm yes the thinning problem >,< I just don't get it why they are doing it. after they come out of the salon it looks like they didn't cut theyr hair for ages.I don't know but I think one reason for them is to follow the japanese trend...the funny thing is that when I went to japan...they didn't have such rat tails like in HK but really nice full hair.
if douglas or d-man, you are in very good hands with both of them ;)

yea I know what you mean...I had my cousin last time for colour and i asked her if she wants a cut too...and she was like" i want to keep it long "
well i just told her, that it's totally useless to keep those 7 ( yes 7 ) hair at the pinted end long >,< so I could finally get rid of that ...well whatever you can call that 3 or 4 cm longer 7 hair... and it's really a nightmare...

Personally i love the owner of Paul Gerrard (cannot remember whether this is allowed under Ed's rules). Listens, takes it in and does the job, marvellous!
