I am on the pill (21 pills/month with 7 days off) and my bf and I started having sex without a condom recently. We had sex during my period while I am pill-free during these few days. I know chances of pregnancy are very low when one has sex during period, but still a bit worried..

It is possible to get pregnant at any time when taking the pill, which is why it is regarded as 99% effective, but usually it is down to human error.
So it is possible although very, very unlikely, if you have been taking your pill regularly every day.

When you have a period on the pill, it is not actually a "period". It's just a bleed. The point of the pill is that you no not ovulate which means that there is no egg to be fertilised. So, if you are taking your pill correctly then I wouldn't worry about getting pregnant during your "bleed", as it makes absolutely no difference from any other time of the month because there shouldn't be an egg there anyhow.

Actually, during your period is the least likely time that you will fall pregnant as the egg has passed and is at the end of the cycle.
Your most fertile time is mid cycle around day 14, when the egg is released.
I wouldn't be concerned either about getting pregnant on the pill, especially during you period

I thought so.. but still, I haven't gone condomless with a guy for a very long time, so I was still a bit paranoid, altho I am the most obsessive person when it comes to taking pills. Now I feel much better, thanks girls! However, I did not know that there are no eggs in there?

Strawberry, there are millions of eggs in your ovaries, and when you have a normal period (i.e. you are not on the pill), each month an egg ripens from a different ovary each month and travels down the falopian tube to the uterus - meanwhile there is a lining of blood building up in the uterus. When this egg is not fertilised each month, you have a period where the uterus sheds the blood lining formed.
However, when you are on the pill, it stops an egg becoming ripe and so it never travels in the tubes and is never there to be fertilised; hence why you just have a smaller "bleed". If you take it properly, then there is no egg present because there is no ovulation.!!!!!
Take care, hun!

Dear SS, please don't leave something so important to this site. Everyone means well and all of the information here sounds correct, but I am not a doctor, but please ask a doctor or nurse. I know people who have gotten pregnant when they were told that it was impossible because they were on the pill. I wouldn't risk it myself unless I'd spoken to a doctor.

If you are worried about it, use a condom too.

Whats going to stop you from worrying? The pill is not 100% guarantee so there is no way you won't worry. Try abstinence...haha ;)

The pill is not 100% effective, no contraception is, but if you are going to use condoms anyway, then why take the pill?

But neither are 100% effective.. so worrying is inevidable.

I've always had sex during the whole time while taking pills and never got pregnant. Of course no birth contol is 100% safe so you can never be sure.
