Hi,
I plan on moving to from HK back to US. According to several
relocation reps SLC Utah is the #1 shipping destination in the US from HK
(something to do with the LDS church). I am looking to share a shipping container
as I have only a few pieces of furniture (2 sofa's, 1 chair & foot
rest) plus 10-15 large boxes to send. I'm looking to spend under $1,500
USD and can wait awhile to get my stuff. Is anyone moving back to SLC
(or prefferably Saint George) within the next month? Does anyone have
any other advise/suggestions on getting my stuff back for 1500 or less?

It's probably going to cost more than US$1500, and SLC Utah is probably one of the least popular destinations. Maybe someone at the LDS church can let your items go with one of their shipments. Otherwise you'll probably have to pay US$2000-3000 for this shipment.

Try ship them with loose container, with since you are not in a rush for delivery... A 20 ft container goes for about $4000, if your content is less than 1/2.. You may have a good chance n paying around 1500-2000...

tggb do you think they lied to me about SLC being a big shipping destination? Why would you know better then a relocaton rep; do you have some international shipping experience or is it just your opinion?

I've worked in the relocation industry. Call around to multiple companies and they would tell you New York, San Fran, Chicago...are much more common destinations. If you can get a quote around US$1500 that's great but it would surprise me so get a price guarantee.
