China destination during CNY?

I live in HK and have a friend visiting from the USA over CNY. I would like to help her experience more of China. She's interested in the culture, history and exotic food. I am interested in the same but have already been to Shanghai, Beijing and Sanya. Is there another destination anyone could recommend for a few day escape during CNY?

Perhaps somewhere un-urban like parts of Yunnan? Take a train perhaps from Shenzhen or Guangzhou and see some countryside....Dali might be a good place to end up in if you're interested in serene and relaxed atmosperes. Plenty of foreign backpackers there too.

just be prepared for the number of people traveling at that time. it's the time when almost everyone goes back to their home cities/provinces to be with their families to airports, train stations are packed with people!
