Careless driver

I have crashed my car. Thank g*d noone hurt and I was not drinking alcohol. The police say they may issue summons for careless driving. Do I have to go to court or can I pleased guilty by post? This is first time for me. Will I go to prison?

No you won't go to jail. You'll receive a summons by mail stating the time and date you have to appear at Magistrate's Court. It's a routine matter and if you plead guilty, you'll be fined and points deducted (I was fined HK$600 and had 3 points deducted many years ago) and if you plead not guilty a date will be set for trial and you'll have to find witnesses in your favor.
