Contraceptive Pill

Having moved here from the UK several months ago, I have, like many others started buying my pill off the shelf from Watson’s. However, I have been experiencing some strange health symptoms, which I can only put down to my pill. Such as very swollen, and painful breasts (continually), night sweats, acne (which I have not had since in my teens), weight gain and mood swings (again something I am not prone to). I have never suffered with these things before, and have been on the same brand of pill for some years. (By the way, I am not pregnant!!) Does anyone know if, although the product is labelled the same as in the UK, if the chemical composition may vary as they are manufactured elsewhere? Can a pill be stronger in any way?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Hoffy,

I would honestly see a doctor about it. I'm assuming that what you were using in the UK was prescribed by a doctor?? And then dispensed at a chemist??? If you are buying it over the counter now, then you should make sure it has the same ingredients in it. If you are worried about the chemical composition, it should say on the side of the boxes - you should be able to compare your Uk one with the Watsons one.

If I were you I would honestly check with a doctor - they will be able to tell you what any differences might be.

Good luck!

Thanks LadyB. Was going to ask the Doctor, but just wanted to see if anyone else had had any problems. Nothing is ever straight forward!!

Thanks again
