Hello,
My almost 4 months old baby has nappy rash, started from his lower abdomen and now it's in the buttocks area. Applied some creams but it doesn't help at all. Going to see the pedia now.
Any recommendations? I am using cloth nappies and pampers since birth and there is no problem. I'm guessing it might be the heater, the grobag, the soap, the wipes, etc. I'm now using pampers only, no more wipes, cotton and water only, just to know which one irritates his skin.

When our son was below 1yo, we would apply either Mustela or Desitin diligently each time he gets a nappy change and he never had nappy rash. We used Pampers and wipes. Now that he's older, the only time we apply nappy cream is if we notice the skin getting a bit red, and once we do, the redness goes away. I've also read somewhere on this forum that an oatmeal bath might help. Do a search for the thread...

Honeypie,
I put Weleda Baby cream on baby's bottom every time I change her, and if I see any rashes I apply the Weleda Diaper cream as the rashes will be gone shortly. The Weleda products are all organic and it's very good if you baby has sensitive skin. If you're interested you can visit this website: http://www.kinoa-shop.com/40101.html

Hi honeypie, I apply Vaseline or Mustela barrier cream each time we change his nappy too. And we use only cotton and warm boiled water to wipe. After poo-poo, we wipe him with Mustela no-rinse fluid for diaper area which keeps skin really clean. No rash so far. Grannies told me oatmeal bath does work for diaper rashes. Maybe you'd like to try.

thanks ladies,
i read about that oatmeal, i tried it yesterday but felt it was too cold to soak baby even with the heater, did it for a few minutes, but the rashes didn't improve.
I never put anything since birth, totally didn't know that i have to put on something every change.

when my baby bum started to get red I used this Lucas Papaw ointment from Australia. Made from papaya. it work like wonders, and it's all natural.
Normally I put about 2 times , and I can see the result.
I use cloth diapers so I dont put many cream for every nappy change, and I use flannel wipes and water plus tea tree and lavender oil (mixed and put in the bottle)to clean.

I second both the Lucas Papaw ointment and the oatmeal bath, my son had really bad nappy rash about 2 weeks ago and all the creams I was given by the paediatrician did not work at all. Within 2 days of putting oatmeal in his bath water the rash healed miraculously. Since then I put the Papaw on whenever he looks a bit red and the redness has disappeared by the next nappy change. Sadly I don't know where you can get this ointment in Hong Kong I had mine sent from Sydney!

i never use any creams unless he starts to get redness and my son has rarely had nappy rash. i also use cloth and disposable (the latter only at night). bets thing to do is find a cream to use when the redness starts i use beeswax cream which is magic, but that pawpaw stuff also sounds great i think i will see if i can source some, i am currently in the UK, what is your online stote Sa-sha do you send to the UK?
