I thought i saw a thread about this before but i cannot find it now. A friend of mine switched his Mac to 'read only' (don't ask why) and it is now a bit messed up


anywhere in shanghai to get this fixed or link to the other thread?

Your friend needs to run "repair permissions".


To do this, run "Disk Utility" (you can enter it into the spotlight panel to find it quickly).


There is a button for "Repair Permissions" there.


He'll ahve to enter the admin password, of course. If he doesn't know the admin password (if it is set) then he will need to reinswtall OS X.
