Your best bet is call town-gas. It will cost you, but at least these guys are certified and they know what they are gdoing and uses high tech equipments to detect any leaks... Also, that little extra money spent might just safe you from the unexpected...

don't go to towngas, they have nothing to do with LPG.

go to the supplier where you get your LPG gas supply (Shell?) they should have the proper equipment to check if there is a leakage or not. the licensed gas suppliers have to be trained and equipped.

also, inform your landlord about the gas leakage if you are renting, so as to get him/her do something about it.

if you are really worried, it is absolutely legitimate to call the police, it IS an emergency because after all you can blow up the whole apartment and many lives will be endangered.

thanks, nismo. i did note that. it's just that saraheb mentioned they had someone came in to check but "they were the standard untrained, ill equipped, clueless types that usually show up."

gas leakage is not a joke. and it's happened in hk many times whether it be towngas or LPG, due to improper installation, sub-standard product, poor maintenance, etc. it not only costs $ but lives.

In Sai Kung, go to your LPG provider as it might be the regulator or the pipe which is too old. Just need to be fixed. (You can actually do it yourself). (Shell or Mobil)

To see the leak, try to put some water on the pipe. If you see some bubbles there you go, you have a hole.
