Just wanted to know if anybody else has collected cord blood here in HK and then sent it to Australia for processing and storage? If so who did you use? Thanks

We used a very efficient company by the name of Cryosite. We were quite pleased with the service, but you have to get it all organised about 6 weeks prior to the delivery.

All the best!

Thanks xox. Cryosite is one of the companies I am looking at. Do you know if the courier company that collects here managed to get it to them within 36 hours? Also, did you see how they packaged the cord blood? - I have read that it must be kept at room temp until processing (worried about temp variation during flight). I have contacted Cryosite but they will not give me the number of the courier company until I sign the contract. I have to make a decision today!

The courier company collected it very promptly and professionally. I was concerned about that too, especially as I delivered our baby at 3:30 am

The only thing that I ddidn't like was the price, but it's the same everywhere.

Just remember to have the box kit with your baggage just in case you go into labour early.

Thanks xox. Apparently there has been an issue with airlines x-raying the blood (post Heathrow scare)! So it looks as if I will have to look at other options. Thanks for the info.

Nula,

I delivered in only 4 1/2 months ago. There was no problem with the transfer. Maybe you should phone Cryosite direct in Sydney?

xox,

Thanks, I phoned them direct they didn't mention the problem but two of their competitors did (in fact one refused to do it because of the risk). They all seemed to use the same courier company. Not sure what to do now!

Sorry gwerty123 have no idea about the public hospital allowing it.
