Fund Raising Ideas?

ORIGINAL POST

Our kindergarten relies on fund raising in addition to fees. I have been appointed FR Officer and I haven't a clue! Well, a cake stall... And that's where my creativity ends! Well, not quite, but I would appreciate ANY ideas or suggestions, no matter how small! Thanks so much!

Always a good idea to set a target amount and what the funds are specifically for and then you can theme it in to that. Many parents will happily contribute to buying toys/ books or donate the specific item in their childs name if they know what is required. (Bench for the playground etc)

For instance if you need more books for the classroom have one of the book suppliers like paddyfields (I know some others but don't have details to hand) come in on a special day (March 1 or 2) is world book day and have the kids dress up as book characters, have a little parade and whilst all the parents are there they can peruse the books and buy one for the kindy. Have book plates there ready to write their kiddies name on and stick in. Our primary school does this on any occassion that we have lots of parents in the school (parent teacher night, year ahead meetings). The parents also take the opportunity to purchase books for their own kids to take home and a certain percentage of that goes towards a credit for the school to purchase books. Works well at keeping the library stocked.

As a parent myself I prefer making a direct donation for something specific at an event rather than spending my time and money making something only to have to buy it back again!! Eg. cake stalls.

Our school also has several social events like a lantern festival evening when everyone comes and has a meal provided by outside caterers, and a lantern parade then a disco. But kindergartners are possibly too young for this type of event at night.

Get some reasonably priced picture frames (eg from IKEA) and frame the childrens paintings. Invite parents etc to come along to the "art gallery" and auction or buy the artwork. What parent is NOT going to buy their childs work??!! Also you can have a wine tasting night. Buy some wines (better still contact eg Limestone Coast wine at Ap Lei Chau Horizon Plaza or someone similar and see if they will donate some or give you a discount), offer people a tasting and then they can order and pay in advance. Afterward, school purchases the wine, pockets the profit. Easy.
