Help!
I am 35 years old and compared to my peers, I look terrible! What can I do? I've had a completely different hair cut and I've bought a whole new wardrobe. These have really helped, but my face still looks bad. I have really heavy lidded eyes which FEEL really heavy and I look tired all the time. I've never had a facial or any beauty treatment in my life. What would you recommend? What can I do to perk up my face?

Hi Mutton,
Ok...I'm not 35 yet, but I can give you advice that worked for my own mother. She had the exact same problem that you do, however now she couldn't feel better!
It sounds like what you have done (hair cut and new wardrobe) are changes that are artificial and that can be seen immediately on the outside. What you need to do is make changes that benefit the inside of your body, so that they can make beneficial changes.
First of all, not knowing your lifestyle, whether you have children, your working hours, sleeping hours etc., the advice I give may be totally wrong for you; however, for both myself and my mother, drinking A LOT of water a day really helps to keep the skin firm, radiant and young looking. Water not only has benefits to your skin, but it also flushes out all the toxins in your body and helps you to feel better, more energetic, and fresher overall.
Next, if you have never had a facial, now might be the time to get one. I'm always fairly careful about what I put on my face - I don't like putting cleansers that are too stong or that make the skin red, so if you are going to have a facial for the first time, pehaps you could try some natural remedies at home first. There are plenty of these that can be found in beauty books or on the internet. You will literally feel the toxins leaving your skin.
Also, if you wear makeup, always always always remove it before you go to bed, and even better use a toner after you have washed your face to make sure that you have got to every last bit. If your eyes are looking tired, perhaps invest in a special eye make up remover too. You could also try sleeping with "eye gels". These are special patches that you store in the fridge and then put on your eyes at night. They are cool and refreshing and really give you a buzz. If you can't find these in the shops, there's nothing wrong with a couple of slices of cucumber to brighten your eyes.
Hope this helps. Just take care of yourself, and drink water, water, water.

Hi,mutton,
If you really want to recharge yourself,I reccommend you to try aromatherapy. As I know, aging is also related to your stress, sleeping quality, emotion ,hormone and your skincare. As I tried the aromatherapy massage and facial,I felt really different,as the thearist will adjust your situation before the treatment and choose an approiate esstenial oil for the treatment, really relax and helpful, and I feel very energetic after the treatment.I found a nice place in Central which is not a big parlor but very personal ,if u want to try,van ask for enquires at 28695055.

The above advice sounds good. My 2 cents worth is to see a good derm who may be able to advise you with skin care products that suit your skin.

mutton, prolonging youth comes from within. Though you've got a new hair cut and a new wardrobe, you are still unhappy with the way you are. Part of it is because what you've done so far is all on the outside. I am not saying how we look is unimportant, in fact it plays a very important part on how we feel about ourselves.
The message I want to get across is that staying young is an attitude. It has to come from within.
Yes, you can always buy all these anti-aging creams and elixirs to slow down or even reverse signs of aging, you may LOOK better but still FEEL terrible.
Love yourself by taking good care of yourself: eat right, drink plenty of water, use good skincare products, exercise regularly, go out with your girlfriends, etc.

Mutton,
it sounds like you may have sleepy eyelid syndrome, I'm sure there's a more technical term for it. Go and see your doctor.

Hi everyone
I also got swollen and heavy eyelids too and my solution is to get some lifting treatment from a spa or beauty salon. I usually go to a spa in Central- Spa Sensations(my favourite spa) for this treatment. It costs me around HK$400 (with the 15% privilege card they gave me, my girlfriend went there last week told me they are still giving out this privilege card and it valids for a year till end of 2007 for all spa and nail services plus all products they carry including Elemis, LT, Yonka, Eminence and more) and for a whole face, eye and neck lifting with a machine called Liftech from Dibi,Italy and the result is instant and lasts for weeks. If you want a more dramatic effect, you can buy some collagen serum from them to use with this treatment and the result is even better and last longer. Not only you feel your whole facial features are lifted, your skin feels so supple and quenched with moisture. After one single treatment, my heavy eyelids, eyebags, sagging cheeks are lifted up as well as my whole facial contour. My face look smaller and it improves water retention problem on my face too. Last time I brought my girl friend there to try this treatment, she got a real serious double chin problem and she was amazed by the instant result. I'm doing this treatment every time I go there for my facial and spa treatments. Is affordable and no painful surgery and downtime involved, worth to try!! I hope it helps!!
