Carpet VS Wooden/Ceramic Floor

My husband is thinking to put carpet down in baby's room (we have wooden floor now)as he thinks it looks nice and feels warm. I am not so sure about having carpet in the nursery in HK as it's very humid here and the carpet gets dusty easily and attracts dust mite. I think the wooden floor is easier to clean and to keep clean.

Do you think it's better to have carpet or just keep the wooden floor? I would like to hear your view on this, many thanks.

I vote to keep the wooden floor --definitely easier to keep clean. A carpeted floor does look and feel nice, but one gets easily lulled into thinking that it's clean(er) when it's really not. Personally, I think it's a dirt trap. My two cents.

when my baby started crawling and we wanted to make his room the safest room in the house, we lined his entire bedroom floor with colourful non-slip kid's carpets from ikea. not expensive at all and i throw them into the machine for a wash when i think it's necessary and it gets a hoover once a week.

I was really lukewarm on the carpet idea, but my husband talked me into it, and a nice plus one too. As usual, he was right :-) For new babies, it isn't necessary, but, as wheelymate says, once they start crawing and starting to walk (and fall) the carpet is really nice. So much nicer for them to sit on and play too. Ours just loves to play on her floor. It was vacuumed everyday and we basically never opened our windows, so I think it stayed plenty clean.

Wooden floor is fine, our baby crawled, walks and falls on it daily... we have a cheap Ikea throw rug on the floor that can go in the washing machine - critical for those messy days!

definitely think that flooring is MUCH easier to clean that carpet. If it's about having a "cushy": or soft place to relax or lie down, we have the LG playmats - cushy, but a plastic covering that are great. Babies can fall on it and it cushions the blow quite well. i'm sure they are available at jusco or something like that.
