Woody, my suggestions would be (and i hope they are of use):

1. View the CNY Parade on the 18th from Canton Road, starts at 8pm i believe

2. View the fireworks from the Peak Walk on the 19th. Go up for dusk, take a few sarnies and drink, have a little picnic up there whilst saving your spot.

3. Go for a lovely walk over Lamma finishing up at the seafood restuarants

4. Go watch the Lunar New Year Footie Cup at HK Stadium (from $100 adults and $40 kids)

5. Go for a meal at Jumbos (touristy but we love it)

6. Oh and go to the World Carnival

If i have anymore thoughts will let you know.

There is a fantastic fair that would also be great for little kids in Victoria Park, causeway bay at the moment. But that will involve crowds.

I would also recomend a visit to the buddah. I second jumbo's. I think sai kung is also worth a visit. Hope you have a great time.

the lower floors of jumbo is the chinese restaurant, the open upper deck is a fusion restaurant aptly named "Top Deck".

seeing as you're in TC, then you can take the kids to one of the Disney hotels for lunch/ dinner. i think the holloywood hotel has the characters to entertain the kids in the restaurant.

Hi woody.

I just have to be the 3rd to recommend the Top Deck restaurant at the Jumbo.

The first time I went to Jumbo was 11 years ago, and it was a very rundown, nasty "Tourist Trap". So bad I haven't been back till January this year. Now, after being bought/leased, I'm not sure which, by Stanley Ho's 4th Wife, it's a very much changed place. It underwent a big renovation.

I have eaten at Top deck 3 times in as many weeks, with friends from Hong Kong, Japan and friends over from the UK. All had the same feeling, what a unique place to eat.

The Top Deck restaurant is part of the Cafe Deco group and is rented out to them. It might be the same for the other Chinese restaurants too. The food is excellent and service is 4/5 star quality. Take them there by taxi, as the view of rounding the corner of Welfare road and seeing Jumbo for the first time is brilliant. (My Japanese friends couldn't stop saying how fantastic it was. Make sure you get there after the sun has gone down, to take advantage of the spectacular lighting.

Top Deck has a very nice ""outdoor" room for private gatherings, it seats 10 people and you get your own CD player and a very nice feeling of "Very Personal" service.

Food is good, mainly asian: Indian, Thai, Japanese with some western steaks as well.

Wine is good, House red and white palatable at about $300 per bottle.

Hope you have a great time.

Take it easy.

Tim
