Our first live-in amah starts in the next month but although her room is decent size, it has an awkard shape and therefore the widest any bed can be is 24 inches or 62 cms. Thus, we are looking for somewhere who makes custom beds - any ideas? No joy at Ikea...

Try PriceRite, Direct Sales Club (15th Floor, Windsor House, Causewaybay), the funiture shops on Queens Road near hopewell in Wan Chai, and other more local furniture shops that are anywhere but Central.

Jade Rattan in Wanchai make narrow beds..not sure if they do custom but they have a website and the prices are very reasonable

Just a recommendation.
Since the room is awkward shape, how about buying a good Japanese futon mattress/or a thick mattress which she can rearrange to her needs? A mat is laid on the floor, then the futon/mattress goes on.

Does anyone know the website for Jade Rattan - have been trying to seach it on the net but no luck. Called their hotline number and could'nt get any information. Alternately any suggestions for buying the japanese style futon matress?
