i want to postpone my period is it ok if i take birth control pills?

Yes, you can postpone your period if you take birth control pills. Just continue to take the hormone pills and don't switch onto the sugar pills. You could probably do this for about 6 months, but I've been told it's a good idea to have a period at the 6 month mark. Then you could start over.

They have been a couple similar threads on postponing a period and they will have the information you require. A search will bring them up for you. It is not necessary to use birth control pills, particularly if you are not already on them.
Birth control pills differ and different women need different ones. Your doctor is the best person to get such advice from regarding choice of birth control pill.

I have mentioned before a tablet which you take usually for two weeks or so. Please search on the forum as I can't recall the brand I mentioned. It's available in HK over the counter.

I have heard or Yasmin, and tried it once but it wasn't the one for me. With regards to this, it's such a personal choice for each woman, and I really agree with Claire - you should consult your doctor to help you settle with one that suits you if you choose this method to postpone your period.
