My fiance and I are planning to get married in Italy this year, but in order to do so I need to get a birth certificate that is certified by the secretary of the state in which i was born. In this case, that would be Seoul, South Korea. I'm currently a U.S. citizen living in the U.S. and have no idea how to go about getting a new birth certificate issued to me and stamped by a South Korean official. I have no family in South Korea and my parents are utterly confused. Can anyone PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Contact American Citizen Services in the US Consulate in Seoul. They, of course, cannot get this document for you, but they deal with people who everyday do obtain this document and would be able to give you basic guidance.
